Life-changing resource for young adults transitioning from foster care to independent living9/4/2016 I helped fix up a house for Northern Star, today. Ms. Mandy was super nice. I really like the work that they are doing. It will help so many foster young adults to have a safe place to live. It was a very fun experience and made my heart happy. I wish them all the luck in the world for their nonprofit. They are doing great things!
Northern Star’s mission is to provide youth and young adults in foster care or youth under the supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice, ages 17-21, an opportunity to begin their transition into the role of a self-sufficient adult. The participants of Northern Star will be supported in a caring, Christian, family oriented program that will provide them with opportunities to further their education, explore their career interests, strengthen their life skills, build meaningful life-long relationships, and identify community resources necessary to transition into living independently while still having the support of Northern Star. www.northernstarga.org

AuthorMy name is Angelica Krubeck and I am 14 years old. I love science. It's one of my favorite things to do. When I was 8, one of my friends opened up to me. She shared how she grew up in a shelter and how hard every day was. After that conversation, I decided I wanted to help kids like her in some way. Science I love and kids I love, so put them together and it just makes sense. I knew that some kids out there don't get the chance to be creative with science, like how I do. I strongly believe that no kid should be without the education and enjoyment of science! Not only does it help them get away from their worries for a little while, but it also provides education to them. I hope to inspire kids to do great things, to succeed in science, and to develop a love for science despite the challenges they are facing in their life. Archives
